Cocktails

Sleepy Horses

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Wild Turkey Bourbon
  • 1 oz Fresh Pink Grapefruit Juice
  • 1/2 oz Tamarind Syrup
  • 2 dashes Poppy Seed Tincture (with Poppy Seeds)

Methodology

  1. Shake first three ingredients on ice and strain into a highball glass over ice.
  2. Finish with Poppy Seed Tincture and Poppy Seeds to garnish

Tarmarind Syrup: Soak 8oz of Tamarind paste in 2L of hot water of 20 minutes.  Strain through a fine meshed seive.  Add equal part of sugar to the tarmarind water (8 cups) and stir to dissolve the sugar and create a simple syrup.

Poppy Seed Tincture: Let 1 oz Poppy Seeds sit in 2oz of high proof alcohol for 3 weeks.  After 3 weeks the tincture is ready to use.  Separate the seeds from the liquid by straining through a tea strainer.  Keep the poppy seeds for garnish.
