Ali Maher is an artistic spirit who comes to the restaurant industry via Bermuda, Indonesia and Brazil, where she worked on land and at sea at various levels of hospitality and private yacht charter, honing her passion for food and wine, and for the culinary experience.
Ali spent time in the Napa Valley of California, participating in the harvest, studying wine, and immersing herself in the valley’s rich culinary scene.
Before focussing her attention on the food service and culinary arts, Ali worked as a professional scuba and technical diving guide in the Indian Ocean, guiding professional film crews from IMAX and the BBC. Her passion for diving and underwater photography nearly seduced her away from pursuing a restaurant career.
Before joining db Bistro Moderne, Ali worked as Service Director at the Metro Restaurant in Vancouver. She speaks French, Portuguese and Indonesian.
